If you are looking for a quick, easy way to stamp a design on your fabric, you are in the right place! This is a little stamp I used in my costume of La Muerte this year and it worked pretty well.
When I had to put a repetitive design on the trim of the hat of my costume, I decided to make this stamp so I didn’t have to make a repetitive design by hand. It was really nice and FAST. Please note that after about 40 uses (times I placed it on the fabric) the stamp started to dry out too much and I made a new one to finish my project. This is not a long lasting stamp unfortunately but it works!
All you need:
1. Craft foam (depends on the size, I used a little, little scrap I had).
2. White Glue
3. Small scissors
4. Tracing paper
5. Piece of styrofoam or wood big enough to fit your design
6. Paint brush
7. Acrylic Paint color of your choice
Trace your design into the craft foam using the tracing paper and your design on a sheet of paper and cut it. Then, glue it with the white glue to your styrofoam or piece of wood. You can use basically anything to glue the craft foam design. It only needs to be thick enough so you can hold it with your fingers. Please allow about 15 minutes to make sure it’s completely dry.
With the help of a brush, paint the shape of your design, make sure you do not put a lot of paint. And just to make sure, make a test on a scrap of fabric first to figure out the right amount of paint needed before stamping the final material. (Sorry I don’t have a picture of this step :(….)
Press on the fabric and lift the stamp. You will have to put paint every time you want to stamp on the fabric because otherwise the painting will be dull and not pretty.
Lift the stamp from your fabric and allow it to dry. I noticed that it did not take more than a minute or two to dry because of the amount of fabric is very minimal which is awesome.
So here are some pictures of the final product! If you have any questions, let me know! I will be super happy to help you with your awesome project!
